If you want to land one of those 6 figure jobs then an MD degree is a good beginning, but you should realize that there are a lot of other careers that can bring you the high pay and job satisfaction that you crave. Most of the 100K plus jobs require that applicants have extensive amounts of experience and education; and some good networking skills and high level contacts will surely not hurt your chances.

Today it is becoming more difficult to find jobs over 100K but they are out there if you look. There are still many careers available that offer annual salaries that exceed $100,000.

1. Airline Pilot -- $120,000-$150,000 per year



Most airline pilots are former military fliers who convert their aviation skills to the civilian workplace. It takes years of training, education and experience to become a highly qualified airline pilot. The fact that these are included in all lists of jobs over 100K is additional tribute to the fact that airline pilots have demanding and stressful jobs that most people are not equipped to handle. Jobs are available with the major airlines and as private pilots to the rich and famous. Airline pilots are also needed to serve as flight experts in other areas of the aviation industry.

2. Dentist -- $110,000-$200,000

The career of a dentist is a close cousin to that of a doctor. Today the yearly salary for an average dentist puts this career choice close to the top of any list describing jobs over 100K. In fact the salaries for specialists such as orthodontists and oral surgeons can be as much as $200K, or more. Although many new dentists will hone their skills and build a client base while working as part of a dental firm, eventually most of these medical professionals will establish a private practice that pays them top dollar for their work.

3. Air Traffic Controller -- $100,000-120,000

You need at least a college degree or some college and 3 years of experience as an air traffic controller to land one of these government backed 6 figure jobs. These are considered to be one of the top 5 stress producing jobs in the world. If you are an excellent multi-tasking individual, detail oriented and capable of making split second decisions then this might be an ideal job where your skills could be put to good use.

4. Computer and Information Systems Manager -- $101,000+

When you need to have your computer hardware updated, new software installed or just have problems that are related IT matters these are the people that get the call. As a computer and information systems manager you are the one who makes sure that the IT staff and high tech equipments are as functional and up-to-date as they can possibly be.

5. Chief Executive $100,000-250,000+ per year

As a chief executive you are charged with the responsibility of seeing that the company runs smoothly and generates profits. Most hands on duties are delegated to others, but still it will be the chief executive that is accountable for failure or success whenever the Board of Directors convene a meeting to discuss the company's direction, progress and that all important ''Bottom Line''.

6. Lawyer -- $100,000-1,000,000+

As a lawyer you have the ability to generate a salary that most people can only dream about. The money that you make depends on your personal skills or persuasion, quick wits, charisma and legal abilities. Attorneys are able to command the highest fees once they have made a name for themselves in this profession. Successfully defending a client in a high profile criminal case is one way to be propelled into the upper echelons of high paid attorneys. Tax lawyers, entertainment lawyers and attorneys who pursue million dollar class action lawsuits all bring in hefty annual paychecks.

7. Astronomer -- $100,000-130,000

As an astronomer you will be using your math and science knowledge to help resolve problems that are being encountered by NASA, airlines or satellite companies. You might prefer to forego the business world and become a professor of astronomy at a university. As an accomplished professional astronomer you could even involve yourself in research regarding the stars, planets and expanding limits of the universe.

8. Marketing Manager -- $100,000+

Marketing managers are the people who work to make sure that their company products are successful. These individuals are in charge of a marketing department unit and they must make certain that the target markets are correctly identified, the advertising campaign is in place and the pricing is on the mark.

9. Engineering Manager -- $100,000- $120,000

If you like a desk job then you might fit right in as an Engineering manager. You might be out in the field a few days a month, but most of these managers have to handle a great deal of paper work.
