Human Resource Manager Jobs

by Silas Reed
HR Management jobs have a major influence in the present day market as people are needed to deal with the demands and requirements of the employees. A Human Resource Manager has to include multiple services within their schedule such as development and management of the employment programs of the company, fix the salaries of the employees, and evaluate their jobs and the like. If you are an HR Manager with a large company, you have to look at each one of these areas individually. When it comes to small businesses, the HR Manager may have to look at the human resources operation of the entire business.

HR Manager Jobs require you to recruit and handle employees concerns, and conduct appraisals, etc. Other than developing and managing the employment programs of the employees, the HR Manager also looks into the promotions, benefits and equal opportunity initiatives as well as the training and initiative programs. HR Management requires the applicant to be highly experienced as well as qualified and at the same time well informed about the initiatives and legal regulations that the state undertakes for protection of the employees. If the hiring and promotion policies of a company are not in tune with the state regulations, the federal government is authorized to penalize the firm.

Requirements

Academic: If you are looking for a career in HR Management, get an MBA degree in the fields of management and human resources administration. A lot of companies look for a fresh HR Manager who is a recent degree holder. They are also required to be knowledgeable with the ever changing regulations, techniques, and legal formalities. An advanced master's degree in human resources is always an advantage when you are applying for HR Manager Jobs. The applicant should be well focused on the job of the employees and their needs.

Skill sets: One of the primary skills of a Human Resource Manager is to manage a variety of human resource programs. Other than that, they must also be skilled to administer the actions of the employees of the organization. Unionized industries have their HR Manager dealing with the inter relationships between the labor and the upper echelons of the management. They are expected to read and understand the union contracts as well as comply with their terms. In fact, HR Management is all about examination of the grievances of the workers and settling disputes between the management and labor.

An efficient HR Manager must be well informed and knowledgeable in all areas of employment growth, development as well as the overall issues that are related to the company. Research and management of the planning procedures of the organization must be combined with the individual claims of benefit depending on the sizes of the respective departments.

Training: You can apply for an internship for an HR department during the summer vacation or college break. HR Manager Jobs help you learn all about the profession and develop some effective and potential contacts, even though you are merely doing paperwork or answering calls. Once the internship is complete, ask for a letter of recommendation from the employees. You may also take a class on how to write a resume as a Human Resource Manager. Other than helping you write your own resume well, it also indicates as to what you must look for in the resumes and the cover letters that you receive and shortlist as an HR Manager.

Prior experience: Before stepping into HR Management, make sure you go for an entry level employee as a human resource assistant. If you are directly employed under an HR Manager, you can be trained for scaling the success ladder in future. Make your Human Resource Manager know that you are interested in learning all about the position and the responsibilities it entails.

Employment Outlook

Career prospects (globally): The HR Manager Jobs can be quite challenging, interesting and varied as they are required to develop their plans for recruitment. Once that is done, the HR Manager interviews and tests the applicants before making the final selection. The prospects in this regard are interesting with good opportunities for scaling into the executive or managerial ranks.

Salaries: $81,810 is the median per year according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. 10% of the highest paid of the HR Management employees earned $118,000 per year.

The field of HR Management is rather interesting as it requires you to have a better understanding of the trends of the market and make selections according to the present industry requirements and standards. HR Manager Jobs necessitate the applicant or HR Manager to be well informed about the skill sets, strengths and potential abilities of the candidate and recruit accordingly.

Why You Should Never Miss a Company Holiday Party or Invitation to Your Boss’s Home
A few years ago, I spoke with a man (now retired) who had worked in a large corporation for forty years and in his last twenty years, he basically did nothing. He was paid very well and was more or less forgotten—doing very little of anything. He would show up at the office at 9:00 a.m. each day, try to look busy—do a task now and then—and then get in his car at 5:30 p.m. each evening and dr...
