Job Summary

Responsible for development, implementation and coordination of all state legislative programs and practices throughout area(s) of responsibility. Develops and implements legislative strategies, monitors legislation and coordinates state association management. Oversees community affairs programs. Participates with other top leaders to establish division/group processes. Provides leadership and direction for diverse and complex functions. Contributes to the development of the organization's business strategy. Interprets business strategy and develops organizational objectives to align with this strategy. Typically managesmultiple teams of professionals.

Job Description

Core Responsibilities:


Oversees state legislative government and regulatory affairs activity for all states in assigned area(s) and is responsible for securing and maintaining franchise operating authority.

Collaborates with senior management and State Government Affairs personnel to develop and implement strategies that shape public policy regarding proposed legislative and regulatory initiatives.

Sets strategic direction and overall guidelines for franchise renewals, including financial calculations and parameters for renewals.

Serves as escalation point for issues for complex and/or difficult franchise renewals, franchise transfers and franchise non-compliance issues.

Develops and maintains relationships with government representatives and regulators at the state and local level.

Travels to attend meetings, hearings, or other events to represent the company.

Drafts, analyzes and/or presents legislation, amendments and testimony as necessary.

Monitors state legislative and regulatory activities affecting Company and the cable industry.

Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.

Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
