VP, Supply ChainPosition Summary and Key ResponsibilitiesThe Vice President, Supply Chainprovides vision, planning, direction, and control of the Supply Chain operation to achieve strategic, operating, business, and financial goals.Oversees$150 million organizational spend and directs the operational, fiscal and personnel activities of Purchasing, Supply, Processing and Distribution, Patient Transportation, Mail Services, Shipping and Receiving, Research Storeroom (total of 48 FTEs)Responsible for optimizing City of Hope's procurable spend, value added supplier contracting and supply chain infrastructure support (including procurement technology applications).Drivesteam strategy, finance, contracting, technology, and operating processes and procedures. In addition, the role is responsible for leading special programs.This rolereports directly to the Senior Vice President, Financial Operations.Key Responsibilities IncludeDevelops and executes strategies for City of Hope's strategic sourcing plan which align with City of Hope's strategic goals
* Collaborates with the CFO, and other executive team members in the execution of the City of Hope 10-year strategic plan as it relates to Supply Chain
* Ensuresdepartmental operational plans; revenue, expense and capital budgets are managed to plan and compliant with law, regulations and contractual terms
* Partners with Group Purchasing Organizations, Distributors, City of Hope Leadership, Nursing Leadership, Department managers, staff and key committees to provide a quality, cost effective products and services
* Analyzes and negotiates contracts on goods and services; assures that goods and services are secured at competitive prices and consistent with acceptable standards of quality and utility
* Identifies needs for continual process improvement and innovation across sourcing, contracting, and analytics; develops a standard of metrics using benchmark data to assist in measuring department's performance against goals and industry best practices
* Identifies cost and inefficiency savings opportunities and initiatives and works with key stakeholders to implement such opportunities and initiatives
* Attracts, retains and develops high performing teams and provides leadership to further develop departmental visions and quality outcomes. Develops and mentors direct reports
* Participates in professional associations to stay current in latest supply chain best practices
* Represents City of Hope in the Exempt Cancer Center Supply Chain Group, as well as in local and national levels in the Association of Healthcare Resource and Materials Management
* Serve as Chair to the Hospitality Services committee, as well as a member of the Capital Equipment committee, Material Use committee, and Safety committee
* Oversees City of Hope Travel Program, Hospitality Services Program, Procurement Card programMinimum Education and Skills Required for Consideration:
Bachelor's Degree required
* (15) years of progressively responsible experience in managing a supply chain or equivalent function
* Proven successful track record in strategically transforming a supply chain function for a like size organization
* Strong experience in implementing, executing and leading the Strategic Supply Chain Value Analysis Committee and supporting its infrastructure, flow and processes
* Strong understanding the operating, systems, policies, procedures and processes intricacies of a teaching hospital/academic medical center, including, basic and clinical research
* Leadership experience should include management of staff, budgets and multiple functions and sites
* Prior experience with implementing, ongoing system enhancements and customization, tweaking, managing and operating an ERP (PeopleSoft, Oracle, SAP)
* Knowledge of regulatory requirements of a provider based clinic in CaliforniaSkills and Characteristics
* Thinks and acts strategically; develops implements and operationalizes strategic and business plans in accordance with the organization's mission
* Has demonstrated the ability to lead transformational organizational change. Approaches change by accomplishing milestones and works with and through others to drive change
* Demonstrates a high degree of business, financial acumen and industry knowledge
* Effectively collaborates with leaders and physicians in initiating, designing, and implementing programs and services
