Profile

The Associate Executive Director assists with the management and operation of the David D. Hunting YMCA. The Associate Executive Director oversees the management of the Membership and Health & Wellness Departments as well as the operation of the branch in accordance with policies, procedures, and standards established by the YMCA of Greater Grand Rapids Board of Directors and the David D. Hunting YMCA Branch Board of Managers. This position will involve early morning, evening, weekend, and on-call responsibilities.
KNOW HOW
Bachelor's degree (BA) from four-year college or university, Master's degree preferred; three to five years of supervision and YMCA Senior Program Director experience, program development, budget management, fundraising, and community collaboration experience preferred; or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. YMCA or Not-for-Profit Management experience preferred. Ability to interact with people of all ethnic backgrounds, ages, and lifestyles. Working knowledge of computers and experience with a variety of software applications.
PRINCIPAL ACTIVITIES
Membership Development and Retention
Recruits new members
Develops member appreciation and retention events
Manages annual membership promotions
Manages the branch Financial Aid and Scholarship program
Manages the corporate membership program
Handles member complaints
Gives tours to perspective members
Participates as Manager on Duty one night per week and weekend rotation
Implements YMCA Membership practices
Establishes quality goals and objectives for assigned areas to be reviewed by the Membership Committee
Coordinates YMCA memberships with other organizations
Program Development
Manages, develops, and monitors program growth in Membership and Health & Wellness Departments
Implements Coaching Concept
Meets Health & Wellness Revenue in Group Fitness, Personal Training & Massage
Guides the visioning process of program development and provide the leadership that will encourage the development of new programs
Develops and maintains relationships and visibility within the community
Documents, develops, and increases the number of Search Institute Developmental Assets and Character Development Values in programs
Human Resource Management
Manages (75-100 Part Time) Membership and Health & Wellness department staff and (5-6) department directors
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the Association's policies and applicable laws
Assists staff in identifying and meeting all development needs with action plans built into the next fiscal year budget
Sets goals and objectives for staff under their supervision
Conducts annual performance reviews and recommends annual salary adjustments.
Supports the Association in recruitment of diverse staff and volunteers
Recruits, Interviews, hires, and trains staff in accordance with established Association policies; plans, assigns, and directs work; rewards and disciplines staff; addresses complaints and resolves problems
Fiscal Management
Manages and monitors the branch operating budget and annual budget development
Monitors monthly budget and year-end forecast for responsible program areas
Operates program areas within directives and policies of the Association
Maintains systems of financial control including revenues, expenses, and inventories
Financial Development
Establishes sufficient revenue to provide services consistent with established goals
Assists in the annual Strong Kids Campaign in leadership role
Facility Management
Responsible for the overall safety, security, cleanliness and general operation of the facility and grounds
Performs any other functions deemed to be necessary for the smooth and efficient operation of the YMCA of Greater Grand Rapids
Salary:
$50,000 - $62,000
