The Ohio Masonic Home (OMH) is seeking a new Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to provide strong leadership of the financial function and to partner with the CEO to provide strategic direction. The OMH is a family of organizations dedicated to partnering with seniors in the aging process. With a heritage of offering compassionate care to its brotherhood of Masons for over 100 years, the OMH has three retirement campuses ranging from 140 to 450 acres in Ohio where it provides independent living, assisted living, skilled nursing and rehabilitation. The OMH also provides home health and hospice services from four offices across the state of Ohio, and a growing array of consumer products and programs designed to reinvent eldercare. The I-CARE Program (Independence through Coordination Assistance Referral and Education) provides assistance to Masons and their wives by helping them plan home care options and linkage to community-based services that will enable independent living for as long as possible. In addition, the OMH offers charitable relief to elder Masons, their families and the general public in need, as well as student scholarships to Mason family members. Springfield has a population of 60,000 and the area is home to diverse employers including Navistar International, Community Mercy Health Partners, Wittenberg University and nearby Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. Columbus and its suburbs are 45 miles east of Springfield. Columbus is Ohio’s capital city and has a diverse economy based on education, government, insurance, banking, medical research and fashion with employers such as Nationwide Insurance, Wendy’s International, The Ohio State University, and The Limited. In 2012, Columbus was ranked in Business Week’s 50 best cities in America.
The CFO will be joining a progressive and dynamic senior executive leadership team at OMH. The culture of the organization is entrepreneurial, trusting and fun-loving, fully engaged in bringing about innovation and best practices with a winning mind-set. The new CFO will have the opportunity to create a new culture and performance standards for the finance team. The CFO will administer, direct, and monitor all organizational financial activities and keep the CEO and Board informed of the financial condition of the organization. The CFO will manage a $45 million annual budget, financial reporting, audit, and preparation of pertinent tax filings. He or she will lead a team of approximately 25 staff engaged in corporate accounting and finance, risk management, banking and treasury management. The finance team also provides oversight of an investment portfolio in excess of $300 million, manages relationships with external financial and accounting organizations and reports results to the Board. The CFO will partner with the CEO to set the strategic direction of the organization and support the development of innovative products and services designed to transform elder services in the future. Essential duties and responsibilities: • Work with the CEO, leadership team and Board to develop financial goals and objectives • Provide proactive and sound guidance regarding management of assets, investments and financial trends • Oversee a system of responsible accounting including budget and internal controls • Develop and lead the finance team to maximum productivity and responsiveness • Ensure that monthly financial statements are provided on a timely basis • Act as a trusted counselor regarding development of new for-profit sources of revenue Educational and Experience Requirements: • A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree. A Master’s Degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance or related field strongly preferred but not required • A minimum of five years with increasing responsibilities in financial leadership in senior living communities • Knowledge of capital planning • Strength in systems processes, revenue cycle, payables, producing timely financials • Knowledge of Great Plains desirable • Experience preparing and filing Forms 990 and 5500 tax filings; experience preparing for-profit tax filings a plus • Demonstrated success developing and maintaining collaborative relationships among diverse groups including Board members and leadership teams throughout the organization • Track record of leading a team through culture change, bringing about rapid process improvement • Demonstrated passion for mission-driven organizations and a service mentality • Entrepreneurial mindset with strong strategic visioning ability Licensure: • CPA licensure preferred
