What Business Development - Dist contributes to Cardinal Health
Business Development is responsible for driving sales and services to new and existing customers. Responsible for maximizing customer value/satisfaction by aligning complex product solutions and services with key customer initiatives. Builds and maintains relationship with key decision makers or potential influencers. Involves a longer sales cycle.

Accountabilities in this role
Our Integrated Logistics Services (ILS) business unit is searching for a Director, Sales for our growing team. This position will cover a sales territory on the West Coast and is a direct report to the Vice President for ILS. The Director, Sales – ILS will leverage the healthcare expertise and distribution centers of Cardinal Health in selling our third party logistics (3PL) services to medical product manufacturers. This position is responsible for identifying and qualifying new sales opportunities and developing plans for introducing new 3PL solutions to ultimately enhance ILS revenues.
This role will build rapport with senior level supply chain leaders within medical product manufacturers and articulate the value of the solution, the financial impact, and design additional solutions based on the manufacturer’s priorities. This position will coordinate Cardinal Health resources to create solutions that meet the manufacturer’s needs and deliver on commitments. The Director, Sales will develop and lead negotiation strategies for contracts and coordinate and facilitate the appropriate resources to participate in negotiation discussions. This position will ensure customer expectations are met by maintaining open and consistent dialogue with internal contacts and external manufacturer end-users. In addition, this role will convey industry trends and manufacturer’s business drivers to assist in developing additional offerings that achieve Cardinal Health's objectives and are of optimal value to the manufacturer.

Bachelor's degree required, graduate degree preferred
Min 8 years healthcare sales experience
Ability to travel 25% of time
Proven product knowledge in business area
6 - 10 years 3PL sales experience a proven track record of closing large complex supply chain/logistics deals involving warehousing and transportation services.
Proven expertise in the areas of supply chain and logistics with a broad business knowledge
Prior experience working with healthcare clients

Solution sales approach coupled with excellent negotiation skills
Excellent planning, forecasting, negotiation and presentation skills
Solid verbal and written communication skills with the ability to alter for varying audiences
