The Vice President of Patient Care
provides strategic and operational leadership to the professional practice of nursing and patient care services throughout the care continuum at St. Joseph Health System located in Bryan/College Station, Texas. The VP of Patient Care has responsibility for implementing patient care standards of practice that are consistent with SJHS mission, vision, and values, and that deliver superior results in health outcomes, costs and patient satisfaction. The VP reports directly to the SVP/COO, Acute & Post-Acute Care Operations and is a member of the Executive Leadership Team. Direct reports include the directors of inpatient nursing units, Perioperative Services, Cardiac Cath Lab, and Emergency/Trauma Services. The Directors of Nursing at the SJ rural critical access hospitals and long term care facilities have a matrix reporting relationship with the VP of Patient Care.
The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications:
· Bachelor's degree in Nursing, Graduate degree in Business, Nursing or Healthcare Administration; Master’s degree preferred
· Five or more years’ experience as a Chief Nurse Executive over a multi-entity health system or complex acute-care hospital with multiple sites (ideally, a faith-based or similar environment). At least ten years of nursing experience
· Leadership experience in a Studer environment.
· Understands the methods of process improvement and LEAN.
· RN Licensure for the State of Texas
The St. Joseph Health System consists of a regional Level II Trauma Center, three critical access hospitals, a free-standing emergency center, four walk-in express care clinics, two nursing homes, a rehabilitation center, and a medical group with eighteen physician clinics throughout the service area. The health system is licensed for 578 beds, with a medical staff of 632 and nearly 2600 employees.
