Job Summary & Responsibilities:
Global Investment Research (GIR) performs fundamental analysis of individual companies, sectors, and entire economies. It produces macroeconomic forecasts, reports on companies and industries, investment opinions on individual securities, strategic portfolio management recommendations, and a wide range of data products for the firm's investing clients and for the firm's own traders and salespeople. GIR Technology builds the software that enables these activities.
We are seeking a senior C# .NET Developer for the GIR Technology team in New York.
The successful candidate will join a small, strong, global C# development team and work with the senior technical architect and functional experts to implement the key desktop components for the global research analytics platform. This system is of major strategic importance to all areas of the Global Investment Research division as it looks to expand its product offering for capturing and analyzing data.
Basic Qualifications:
We expect the successful candidate to have a proven track record delivering Windows client desktop applications using Microsoft .NET technology with specific skills and experience of designing and implementing client applications.
The candidate will get to work with the latest .NET technologies, such as WPF, PRISM, WCF, MEF, Linq. They should demonstrate knowledge and interest in the whole .NET ecosystem (both current and forthcoming technologies).
Knowledge of investment research and finance are not essential but experience in any of these areas may provide a candidate with some advantage.
Clear verbal and written communication skills will be crucial since the candidate must be able to gather requirements as well as influence and gain consensus for their designs with the global technology team.
They should also be comfortable working with clearly defined project plans and be comfortable contributing their estimates to the planning process.
A minimum of 5 years commercial experience
Strong C# .NET skills (4.0 and above)
Expertise analyzing usability requirements, designing and implementing Windows user interfaces
Experience of applying software development methodologies to deliver robust, well tested solutions in a rapid TDD environment
Knowledge & experience of working with common design patterns (e.g. Gang of Four, MVVM etc)
Experience of working with common build, test, refactoring & productivity tools, e.g. version control, MsBuild, Jenkins / CruiseControl, N-Unit, N-Cover, JIRA, Quality Centre
Preferred Qualifications:
Prior experience communicating and influencing design decisions using wireframes etc
Practical experience working with the Microsoft Office platform and VSTO
Knowledge of WPF, WCF, RTD, PRISM, Linq
Knowledge of agile development practices
Experience of a Dependency Injection framework, e.g. MEF, Unity etc.
