Local firm in Pleasanton is seeking a Tax/Accounting Manager for their team: Tax/Accounting Manager Essential Duties and Responsibilities Applies principles of accounting to analyze financial information and review and prepare financial reports as well as tax returns by performing the following duties: • Compiles and analyzes financial information to prepare entries to accounts, such as general ledger accounts, documenting business transactions. • Analyzes financial information detailing assets, liabilities and capital and prepares balance sheet, profit and loss statements and other reports to summarize and interpret current and projected company financial position for other managers. • Installs, modifies, documents and coordinates implementation of accounting systems and accounting control procedures. • Devises and implements system for general accounting. • Makes recommendations regarding the accounting of reserves, assets and expenditures. • Conducts studies and submits recommendations for improving the organizations accounting operation. • Collects appropriate data and prepares and reviews federal, state and local reports and tax returns. • Reviews financial statements and tax returns prepared by staff. • Maintains professional and technical competence. • Maintains and develops client relations. • Follows-up with clients and controls jobs within budget. • Provides professional judgment to respond to and make recommendations for complex client issues. • Utilizes staff resources and delegates work to subordinates. • Supervises, trains, and counsels subordinates to improve their overall performance. • Works with little supervision from partners. • Advises partners on status of projects and promptly alert them to potential problems. • Possess effective communication skills. • Perform tax, audit and appeals representation • Other duties may be assigned as necessary. Job Requirements Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education and or Experience Employee must have a bachelor’s degree from an accredited University, possess a professional license, and have at least ten years experience performing pro-active tax and accounting duties. • The ideal candidate will also possess a client practice that will bring to the firm $35,000 to $50,000 in billing minimum; • Has practice development skills and wants to grow the practice and eventually become a partner; • Has the ability to prepare as well as oversee projects from start to finish; • Has hands on computer skills in QuickBooks, Lacerte (or some other tax program), Microsoft Office, Adobe Professional, and various other accounting related software; • Has a small business consulting skill set; • Has strengths in Tax as well as Accounting & Auditing disciplines; • Is attention to detail oriented with a strong capability of follow-through; • Possess good interpersonal skills with client and staff; • Has excellent writing skills; • Can research, comprehend, interpret and apply Tax and Accounting & Auditing laws and rules.
