Summary:
Our client is seeking a SOA Solutions Architect to work on architecture initiatives. As the Solutions Architect you will be responsible for leading and coordinating projects from a business and technology perspective, ensuring that software development life cycle activities are consistent with the direction of the business. You may also be expected to spend a significant amount of time on development activities. You will be responsible for participating in team meetings and communicating appropriate project status. When working on architecture initiatives, you will be part of a team of peers working on highly technical initiatives.
Responsibilities:
Design and architect scalable, distributed Services and Applications that integrate across different technologies.
Design/develop critical framework components/reusable modules.
Lead and mentor other engineers in the company. Work on technical, enterprise initiatives. This will likely involve vision setting, researching, training, and all phases of the software development life cycle. Help project manager in estimation process.
Communicate professionally and effectively to clients, management, and other departments.
Document technical findings/decisions and make technical presentations to the team.
Ability to fully understand and define scope of technical software projects.
Maintain, improve and optimize our internal software offerings and development process.
Establish, maintain and adhere to set of development standards.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or similar degree is required.
5 yrs of development exp in Java/J2EE technologies. DB2, SQL Server, OOP, XML, Hibernate, Struts, Spring, JSP, JSF, Core Java, Web Services, WS* standards, SOAP, HTTP, JMS, JAXB, JIBX, Eclipse, Scala
2 yrs exp as a software architect or working on a software architecture team, providing technical leadership/guidance/mentorship (direction setting and articulating, consensus building, conflict mediation, etc.).
Extensive, real-world experience designing enterprise software and defining software architectures (UML, design patterns, SOA, etc.)
Experience in areas listed: multi-tier system development; building and supporting mission critical applications; with teams in disparate geographic locations; Demonstrated self-starter, with the ability to set the direction when there is little or none; Software Development Life Cycle methodologies. Agile and waterfall.
Deep understanding of design patterns and architectural patterns. architectural frameworks such as TOGAF; database design, querying, stored procedures, views, joins, performance; alternate database technologies
Eventually-consistent key-value stores, key-value stores, graph database; Amazon EC2 and other technologies or other cloud offerings.
Exp with IBM middleware and SOA products (Websphere, Message Broker, ESB, DataPower); Understanding of security techniques including authentication, authorization and cryptography
Prefer Sun Certified Enterprise Architect certification.
1-2 yrs travel industry exp beneficial
