Overall Accountability & Job Summary
The Senior Project Manager’s role in the Professional Services group is to ensure that the delivery of the MetraNet implementation project to our customers is in alignment with MetraTech’s business goals and objectives, customer requirements and that the deliverables are executed on time, on budget and at the highest possible level of quality. S/he needs to have excellent management skills to manage and coordinate with the entire team and with the clients and stakeholders.
A successful Senior Project Manager at MetraTech is a professional who oversees the work of a technical team while considering business management aspects. S/he has to make sure that team members are working on the project as per the schedule and costs by following the MetraTech Project Implementation methodology and ensures quality assurance standards in the work that is being delivered.
Effective management is very important in an organization that undertakes a task of project completion for clients in the enterprise application space. Due to business management challenges, project managers are required to be proficient in the MetraNet application and the industries that typically implements MetraTech’s enterprise application so that they are able to successfully present and discuss the MetraNet solution and where required guide the customer and the MetraTech Solutions Architect towards a solution that has long term viability for the customer and one that takes advantage of MetraTech’s application.
S/he is a core member of the Professional Services group and in this this capacity will partner with the other key members of the Professional Services group as well as other groups within MetraTech to help meet and exceed performance targets and foster a positive work environment. In addition, the Senior Project Manager works closely with the MetraTech’s Finance team to structure client deliverables to conform to the financial and operating principles.
Project Management
Oversee Projects
: Plan, coordinate and manage all aspects of client implementations, developing integrated program management plans, managing deadlines and dependencies including coordination of project team activities. Manage the process for obtaining client business requirements including obtaining client sign-off, implementation and validation of the MetraNet solution. Ensure delivery milestones are being met. Meet with clients to assess needs/expectations ongoing basis and offer solutions.
Allot Tasks
: Create detailed project plans (using MS Project) that adhere to the established standards that meet client and MetraTech requirements. Meet as required with project team to ensure deliverables are on track and take appropriate mitigation actions as situation demands.
Manage Project Resources
: Estimate project skill requirements, and work with VP of PS to identify appropriate resources and manage their integration into the project team. S
upervise the team's daily work and ensure everybody is working efficiently.
Technical know-how
: While the project manager is not expected to perform product implementation activities, they are expected to gain knowledge of the MetraTech application and the customer industries to enable them to understand the scope of the implementation; and the technical implications of the proposed solution and in some cases contribute to solution discussions. This ensures the solution takes best advantage of the MetraTech application including minimizing customizations and more importantly enables the project manager to manage the scope of the solution. In some of the smaller projects the project manager may be expected to help reproduce the software defects to enable faster turnaround of the issues.
Scope Management
: Ensure customer requirements are being met. Manage project components including scope lock-down, change control and associated billing.
Implementation methodology
: Follow established project management process and guidelines. Oversee adherence to customization guidelines and standards including coordinating with Product Management and Development to deliver requested enhancements.
Communicate Well
: Maintain overall responsibility for managing the communication of the project progress to internal and client stakeholders including the status reports and other communication reports. Work with Sales and Support teams to ensure client communications are coordinated.
Work within Budget:
Manage and track project financials. Ensure project resources are accounting for their time. Determine appropriate revenue recognition requirements and ensure timely and accurate invoicing, and monitor receivables for project. Analyze project profitability, revenue, margins, bill rates and utilization monthly.
Regular Follow-up
: Meet as needed (daily, weekly) with clients during project to work through all details for a successful, quality, on-time implementation. Meet with the project team daily or as needed to track internal progress. Create decision documents and capture meeting minutes as needed.
Risk Mitigation
: The project manager has to have the ability to foresee and quickly gauge if the project is heading on track or not. If the progress is not as expected, then discuss and design a strategy for change. Moreover, certain improvements and adjustments may have to be made to the original plan. The project manager must minimize exposure and risk on the project.
Multi-task
: Since the project manager is unlikely to handle only one project at a particular time, s/he should have the ability to multi-task. S/he should see to it that all the projects under his/her supervision are on track and progressing well. Moreover, the project manager should ensure no project is being neglected because of the other.
Crisis Management
: the project manager should be able to lead and help resolve issues in the shortest time possible in a crisis situation. If the problem is between the team members and the clients, s/he should be able to sort it amicably, such that the relationships are maintained and work is not affected.
Project Closure
After the project is completed, the project manager is responsible for conducting a lessons learned meeting with the team to check the project and discuss the results. Here, the project manager should find the key success factors that led to the completion of the project and those that were not beneficial for the project, so that they can be avoided in the future.
The project manage is also responsible for transitioning the project to the MetraTech Support team for on-going maintenance of clients.

Relationship Management;
Client Management
Coordinate project activities with Client Project Manager as well as Client stakeholders.
Develop and sustain strong client relationships at the most senior levels of client organizations and especially with the Client’s Executive sponsor.
Participate in the development of a strategic solution to a client’s business problem.
Provide support to additional business development and sales activities for the existing client.
Identify and pursue new professional services opportunities at existing clients to drive incremental signings and revenue.
Internal Team Relations

Actively works to build a collaborative and inspiring work environment

Communication
Organize and lead regular communication of the project progress to Client Project Manager, Executive sponsor and stakeholders.
Organize and lead regular Steering meetings
Lead client presentations on MetraTech solution, application and/or project scope
Demonstrated ability to think on his/her feet and provide business and strategic insight and guidance
Leadership & Staff Development
Leads by example
with a calm, rational, balanced management style
Monitors and reports the utilization levels of the project team and recommends action to adjust
as needed.
Seeks improvements to the PS project implementation methodology
Goes above and beyond the call of duty to ensure customer projects are successful
People Development
Mentors and coaches project team members as needed
Recommend training needs for project team members as needed
Provide both informal and on-going performance feedback to the individual and their Manager

Looks to expand knowledge and drive for innovation in the area of project management and delivery of enterprise application projects.
Required Knowledge & Skills
Bachelor’s Degree required
At least 5 years of proven track record of leading and managing IT projects in complex enterprise environments
At least 2 years of experience with implementation of Billing, ERP, CRM and/or other enterprise application systems
Proven track record in managing and driving clients to successful launch of the enterprise application systems that includes other vendors and third party system providers
Experience in effective management including the ability to listen, set goals, delegate, communicate, negotiate, manage meetings and effectively manage time
Ability to develop work breakdown structure, identify dependencies, assess critical path, assign and level resources, build and maintain project plans
Ability to define deliverables, develop and maintain estimates, track progress, provide meaningful status reporting
Ability to demonstrate project leadership including the ability to produce clear project objectives, analyze and manage risk, to create and manage a statement of scope, discern requirements, enforce governance process, build cohesive teams
Ability to keep composure and lead in high stress situations
Ability to communicate quickly and decisively in difficult situations
Experience in Oracle PLSQL, SQL
PMI/PMP Certification a plus
Expert knowledge of MS Office & MS Project
Must have client facing and client management experience including demonstrated ability to work at all levels with the customer organization
Must have excellent oral, written, presentation and interpersonal communication skills
Must be able to work well in a team environment and be able to lead, guide and mentor the team including the ability to manage difficult personality conflicts on the team and with customer team
Must be self-motivated and able to work independently
Must be flexible including working long hours and some weekends
Position requires 50-70% travel to customer site
