Principal Software Engineer (SIEM)
Waltham, MA
Aveksa is seeking a talented and passionate principal software engineer who will be responsible for various parts of Aveksa’s products. Principal software engineers are responsible for the design, implementation, and quality of their product area. Likewise they often interact directly with product management and potentially with customers to better understand product requirements and customer pain points to help them build appropriate and effective solutions. This position is focused on integrating various SIEM (Security Information and Event Management) products with our Access Governance and Fulfillment platforms.
Responsibilities
Design, implement, and maintain various key feature areas of the Aveksa solution.
Take product requirements and come up with design and approach for solutions based on input both external and internal.
Manage development tasks and expectations through the use of agile methodologies including the ability to define and manage sprints, manage burn-down charts, and drive scrum meetings.
Enabling partner driven development of 3rd party SIEM product integrations through integration APIs, best practices, and enablement.
Take ownership of existing SIEM product integration implementations.
Develop prototypes or proofs of concepts of SIEM product integrations for market validation and potential
Requirements
Mandatory
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, or Engineering
8 years of experience in software development
Startup experience with track record of taking initiative and problem solving
Experience with entire software lifecycle - requirement analysis, design, architecture, implementation, testing
Customer facing experience while assisting in triaging and fixing problems in the field
Proven experience in Agile or test driven iterative software development
Object Oriented development using Java/J2EE
Experience with scripting tools - Perl, Shell, Groovy, Javascript, Python
Web application server development (JBoss, Tomcat, Websphere, etc.)
Database technologies JDBC, SQL, PL/SQL, Oracle, MSSQL, MySQL
Frameworks like Struts, Spring, Hibernate
Experience using XML (SAX, DOM), XSL/XPath
Exposure to Web services, WSDL, SOAP, REST, etc.
Experience with tools like Eclipse, IntelliJ, JIRA, Perforce, SVN, Bamboo, ant, and Wiki
SIEM experience with products: HP ArcSight and QRadar. Any other SIEM product experience is a major plus!
Desirable
Security domain experience (Access Governance, GRC, Access control, Authentication, SSO, Cryptography, SIEM) - CISSP certification a strong plus
Enterprise Service Bus (Mule, Apache Camel, etc.)
Design patterns – Code, Enterprise, Integration
Web User Interface development (HTML, Javascript, PHP, J2EE, .NET)
Server performance benchmarking/tuning experience
