Job Profile
The Executive Director is a leader who will build upon past successes, continue to foster a culture of excellence within the YMCA, build strong relationships in the communities they serve and skillfully position this YMCA as an indispensable community asset.
The incoming Executive Director will be expected to work with volunteer leaders and key staff to finalize and implement the strategic plan and evaluate the existing strategies to identify and address opportunities and challenges facing the organization. Candidates must demonstrate prior success in planning, leading staff in the development and implementation of goals through an annual operating plan, and working with volunteers to align the tactics of committees and their charts of work with the strategies and goals of the organization.
Candidates must be able to provide strong fiscal leadership and implement and direct financial development programs and practices that ensure resources are available to support operational needs. This includes the creation and development of new and long-term revenue streams, sustainable grants, planned giving and endowments.
The Executive Director will be expected to further build and develop the staff team and structure to ensure it is aligned with the future needs of the organization. This individual will ensure that staff performance in Wellness, Aquatics, Youth Programming, Member Service, and Facilities leads to superior outcomes in programs, member satisfaction and community engagement, while demonstrating the YMCA values in his/her approach.
The Executive Director is key member of the Association's Executive Team to create the desired culture and results as needed to achieve the Y's strategic objectives.
Minimum Criteria for candidates:
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university. Master's degree preferred.
Must demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills and personal values consistent with the YMCA mission.
Minimum of 5 years prior experience in a management role with a YMCA or related experience at a comparable non-profit organization with direct supervision of staff and volunteers.
Fiscally sound business management approach.
Must have the ability to develop and strengthen community relationships.
Demonstrated success at fundraising.
Must be able to effectively lead, coach, engage and inspire staff towards high performance expectations.
Must have the ability to translate strategic organizational objectives into tangible and measureable operational results while actively demonstrating the Y values.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, progressive and dynamic YMCA association.
Develop promotional plans in partnership with Marketing to meet goals for increased enrollments and new business.
Preferred Criteria for Candidates:
YMCA Organizational Leader or Multi-Team Leader Certification. Note:
Candidates not already in possession of this certification have up to three years to obtain via Y-USA.
A track record for developing and leveraging community partnerships and alliances in order to further expand services that address community needs.
Ability to work with and strengthen a Board and volunteer leadership structure.
Salary:
$70,000 - $90,000
Additional Compensation Details:
This position has a strong benefits program (medical, dental, vision), a generous vacation allowance, 8% retirement program, fully paid life insurance, LTD insurance and free membership in the YMCA of the Burlington and Camden Counties. Salary is commensurate with experience.
