We are excited to announce the opening for a Chief Engineer, Gimbals. This position reports directly to the Engineering Director and is part of the leadership team.
• This Senior Level Engineer will oversee the design, development, and maintenance of an enterprise portfolio of best in class stabilized electro-optical payloads used for surveillance and reconnaissance on both manned and unmanned platforms.
• The Chief Engineer is responsible for setting and driving all technical strategic goals, product technical roadmaps, and technical objectives for our Gimbal product line.
• The candidate is responsible to grow the business by working closely with engineering and business development teams to spearhead advanced programs in the use of new/existing technology and products into domestic/international platforms. Specific duties and tasks for this position:
• Responsible for the design, development and integration of stabilized camera systems used for surveillance and reconnaissance on both manned and unmanned vehicle platforms
• Provide technical leadership for optics development, mechanical design, motor controls, system integration and architecture, and platform strategy
• Lead a staff of engineers who are responsible for mechanical design and system integration of highly complex electro-optical payloads and sensors including cameras, laser markers and laser designators
• Champion new product development as a Project Sponsor across multiple functional areas within engineering; initiate evaluation and investigation of new technologies
• Responsible for setting and driving all technical strategic goals, product technical roadmaps, business strategy and technical objectives for our electro-optical product line
• Be accountable for the design and execution of payload system architecture and platform strategy-
• Establish system architecture and functional feasibility based on customer applications
• Manage payload projects; develop test plans, establish goals / timelines, and communicate status of projects to completion
• Maintain customer relations; provide flight test support, trouble shooting and consulting expertise
• Analyze, plan, and solve complex system problems as they relate to product performance, supplier development, manufacturing processes and customer needs
• Support creation of component & system specifications, component DFMEA, DVP&R and other technical design documents; provide supporting documentation for RFQ's or SOW's from external customers- Interface with suppliers for manufacturing feasibility, validation, and other engineering activities
• Engineering Bachelor's Degree and 10 year(s) related experience with 4 years in management role
• Or, Engineering Master's Degree and 8 year(s) related experience with 2-4 years in management role
• Stabilized camera systems, electro-optical design, development and manufacturing experience required
• Electrical or Mechanical engineer with application experience in automotive, aerospace, or related industry sector
• MUST BE U.S. CITIZEN
• 7 to 10 years of experience
• Management Experience Required - No
• Minimum Education - Bachelor's Degree
• Willingness to Travel - Occasionally
