A recent survey conducted by a major job search site tells us that people looking for six figure jobs tend to be older than other job seekers. Over four hundred thousand people were asked to choose the age group they belonged to as part of this survey. Interestingly, the majority of people looking for 100k plus jobs were over the age of fifty. That's a much different demographic than people looking for jobs at lower pay rates.

The results of this survey tell us that the majority of people looking for jobs in the six figure range are not just older, but are highly experienced. These senior executives have what it takes to get the six figure jobs they're looking for. After all, it's unlikely that a company will hire an inexperienced applicant for 100k plus jobs, particularly in this economic climate.

What about the rest of the age brackets? Well, the survey tells us that three percent of six figure job seekers are under the age of thirty, while seventeen percent are between the ages of thirty and thirty-nine. Forty to forty-nine year olds made up thirty-five percent of the survey's respondents, and people in their fifty decade accounted for thirty-eight percent of the people answering the survey. Six percent of those responding were listed between the ages of sixty and sixty-five years. Only one percent of the jobseekers who answered were over the age of sixty-five.

It's clear that there's a sweet spot in your career when it comes to getting a job of this type. By the age of forty to fifty, you're likely to have a good business profile and a resume that contains a long history of competent work. It might be disappointing to find out that it takes this long to find yourself in a six figure position, but the truth of the matter is that these jobs don't go easily, and they're not something that just anyone can do. To make more than six figures, you need to have a strong background and a lot of skills. For most of us, this takes a lot of work and a solid history.

There are six figure positions out there in all kinds of industries, and in just about every area. Don't be surprised if there are openings in your area. Just make sure that you've got what it takes. Age isn't a guarantee or a requirement when it comes to making over 100k.

However, most of us are going to have to work for a while to live up to the standards, it takes to get one of these high profile jobs. Six figure employments could be just around the corner - if you've got what's needed to get it. If you don't, take the time to find out what's necessary, and build your resume for success. You might be surprised by the results.
