When you receive the notice, whether it comes in person or over the phone, the first thing that you think of might actually be disbelief, especially, if you are among the people who have 100k jobs. It seems unbelievable that someone who has held 6 figure jobs has been laid off, but the truth of the matter is that with the economy going the way that it is, many people have found themselves in that situation. When you have been working in jobs over 100k, it can feel as though you would never have to worry about work again, but it is simply not true. The truth of the matter is that everyone is at risk and if you have been laid off or you believe that you are in danger of being laid off, you need to see what your options are.

Even if you have worked 100k jobs before, it is important for you to take a moment and to avoid panicking. You have doubtless been through situations before, so think about how you deal with stress. How are you going to get back on your feet and what kind of 6 figure jobs are out there and waiting for you? It is true that jobs over 100k do not grow on trees, but the truth of the matter is that you got one before; there is no reason to believe that you might not get one again. All you need to do once you have been laid off is to make sure that you are getting the results that you need and to do that, you need to stay calm.

When you want to make sure that you are going to be getting back in the game, giving yourself a cooling off period. Think about it like a relationship, where getting laid off is a lot like going through a breakup. Right after the event, you are going to be full of fear and perhaps anger. You might be wondering what people would want you and you might be so scared that you will take any deal that comes along, no matter how bad it is for you. The thing that you need to remember is that there are jobs out there and if you were making a fair amount of cash before, you will find that there is every reason to believe that you will be fine again. Don't rush into anything that you will regret.

After you have had your requisite cooling off period, it is time for you to start networking. If you have never spent time getting to know people before, this is something that is going to work against you. Take some time and call up your professional and personal friends. Be blunt and upfront and let them know what you are looking for. Remember that they are not doing you a favor so much as setting things up to the benefit of everyone around you.

A six figure job can feel like it is hard to beat, but take a moment and get yourself back in the game.
